How any adult chooses to present themselves in public is ultimately their prerogative. But they must also be prepared for the perception & reactions that inevitably follow. You cannot consciously create an image & then dictate how the public should interpret it.
As much as many of us claim not to care what people say, there is still something called decorum. There is still such a thing as dignity. Freedom of expression should never become an excuse for abandoning all restraint or reducing ourselves to the public display of our most basic instincts.
What fundamentally separates human beings from animals isn’t simply our intelligence. It is our capacity for reason, discretion, & self-control. Those are the hallmarks of civilization.
An animal doesn’t care about nakedness because the wilderness is its home. Every other creature around it is equally unclad, so there is neither shame nor consciousness of exposure. That’s simply nature.
Human society, however, is different. Civilization was built on values, boundaries, & respect for shared public spaces. When someone deliberately strips away those boundaries in pursuit of attention, controversy, or applause, they shouldn’t be surprised when admiration isn’t the only response they receive.
Freedom is a right. Decorum is a virtue. And the wisest among us know that one should never be sacrificed on the altar of the other.
