Emotion vs. Logic!

Abiola Aloba

I discovered today that many people’s understanding of certain matters is badly warped.

That is precisely why one must never take people’s words at face value, because doing so can lead you astray, foolishly & irreversibly so.

Most decisions people make are driven by emotion, not logic. And let this be clear: they are not the same thing. Not even close.

Emotion allows irrationality.

Logic enforces reason.

Emotion clouds judgment.

Logic sharpens it.

Emotions are biased by default, highly subjective, deeply opinionated, & primarily concerned with personal comfort & pleasure.

They are, by nature, self-serving. Any decision rooted purely in emotion therefore cannot withstand the balance of justice, fairness, or objectivity.

Logic, on the other hand, is anchored in empirical fact. When facts are weighed properly, they cannot be tainted unjustly. Inferior logic can only be displaced by superior logic, not by sentiment, not by persuasion, & certainly not by feelings.

What is shaped by emotion is easily dismantled, because the force that shaped it may have been temporary. Moods change. Feelings fluctuate. Emotions expire.

Facts do not.

This is why scientific laws include provisos such as “all things being equal.” When variables are held constant, outcomes become predictable. That is the authority of logic: stability, testability, reliability.

Yes, showing emotion is human. It is natural. It has value.

But it must never be the driver of decision-making.

When emotion leads, decisions become fragile, easily pooh-poohed, convincingly disputed, & effortlessly overturned.

Let emotion express.

Let logic decide
