106 London Properties?! Herbert Wigwe Didn’t Just Play the Game… He Owned Entire Boards

Herbert Wigwe

Pause. Read that again.

One man. 106 properties. In London.

Not Abuja. Not Port Harcourt, not in Burkina Faso, or Mali

London, the chessboard of global real estate, where even owning one prime property is a lifetime flex.

So yes… to say the mind is blown would be putting it politely.

This Wasn’t Wealth. This Was Architecture. Maybe he should be properly referred to as the International Property/Real Estate Czar, one of the owners of London, after the Royal Family.

When Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe surfaces on a list tied to 106 UK properties, it instantly shifts the conversation from admiration… to awe.

Because at that level, you’re no longer buying houses.

You’re:

acquiring positions

planting flags

building silent streams of power

And London? That’s not where amateurs experiment.

The “Lone Wolf” Question Nobody Can Ignore.

Let’s be honest.

106 properties isn’t something you stumble into.

It raises delicious, almost cinematic questions:

Was he quietly assembling a global real estate empire while the world focused on banking?

Were some held in trust, layered through corporate structures only insiders understand?

Or was this simply the visible tip of a far deeper iceberg?

Because if this is London alone… what does the rest of the map look like?

New York? Dubai? Cape Town?

You begin to realise, this may not have been a portfolio.

This may have been a network.

The Ikoyi Masterpiece: A Retirement Dream or a Billionaire’s Statement?

And then… there’s Ikoyi.

His just-completed residence in Lagos has been whispered about in tones usually reserved for global icons. Not just a house, a stupendous statement of arrival at the highest level of private luxury.

Think:

futuristic smart systems

audacious architectural design

resort-level amenities embedded into a private home

finishing that rivals elite residences in Monaco or Beverly Hills.

This wasn’t where a man lived.

This was where a man retired into legacy.

Valued at several billions of naira, the Ikoyi property wasn’t just expensive, it was intentional.

A final, physical signature of a life lived at extraordinary altitude.

From Banking Titan to Silent Empire Builder.

Of course, the public story is already legendary.

From GTBank to the audacious takeover & total transformation of Access Bank Plc alongside Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, this was a man who understood scale like few others.

Under his watch:

Access became a continental giant.

Expanded across 20 plus countries.

Built a customer base in the tens of millions

But now, with revelations like this, one begins to suspect:

Banking may have been just one layer of the story.

So… How Rich Was Herbert Wigwe, Really?

Official numbers will always try to box greatness into tidy figures.

$100 million?

Maybe.

But 106 London properties whisper a different language entirely.

Because at that level:

wealth is structured, not displayed

assets are parked, not paraded & influence is felt, not announced.

He may not have worn the public crown like Aliko Dangote or Mike Adenuga…

…but just maybe, just maybe, he didn’t need to.

A Life of Altitude… & an Exit That Still Hurts.

His passing, alongside his gorgeously dear wife Doreen Cihizoba Wigwe, their son, & a close family friend, remains one of the most painful chapters in Nigeria’s corporate memory.

A life lived at extraordinary height… ended mid-flight.

Final Thought: The Quiet Billionaire Theory.

106 London properties.

Let that sit.

Because numbers like that don’t shout, they hint.

They hint at:

conversations in rooms we’ll never enter,

structures we may never fully understand,

& a level of wealth that doesn’t need validation.

Herbert Wigwe may have been many things, banker, builder, visionary.

But in the end, one thing now feels undeniable:

He was playing a far bigger game than most of us ever realised.

Doreen herself was no pushover at all! She founded Craneburg Construction, a thriving, multi-billion Naira valued civil engineering & building construction brand, which has in its employ, about 7000 staff members. Craneburg Construction has done jobs across Nigeria, building roads, bridges, etc. Company was established in 2016.

Herbert was also the founder & owner of the incredible, futuristic Wigwe University, lsiokpo, Ikwerre LGA in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. It is estimated to be valued at several billions of Naira in real estate & equipments.

Access Bank must be minting money extraordinarily from the looks of it, as in, if the former GCEO owns 106 properties in the UK, & then the 51 year old current MD of the bank also bought a ₦30b (£15m) valued UK property on the billionaires row, not too long ago (in 2025), then that’s where one must go to work then.
